20 Delicious Fall Dinner Ideas

“What’s for dinner?”

It’s the constant question.

And sometimes it’s hard to answer.

Meals get boring. Preferences change, and prices are going up. It can be challenging to always come up with new ideas that fit our family’s needs and desires. Getting meals on the table can feel like a burden if we lack inspiration and don’t enjoy the food we make.

While I don’t believe we ALWAYS need new ideas and uncharted recipes – in some seasons we may need just the opposite – I do think we should enjoy our food and CAN try new recipes if we want to.

Being excited about the food we eat is a great way to enjoy our everyday life and “savor” (notice the pun) the small things.

I want to share with you a compilation of 20 recipes from across the web that I think would be delicious additions to our Fall menus. Some are similar to our family’s go-to’s, and some just sound delightful. Perhaps we can both find fresh inspiration.

1. Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Top

Easy Chicken Pot Pie Casserole with Biscuits – Tasty Home Journal

We love this meal at our house, and I make a version of this recipe often, especially in the cooler months. It’s basically stew and biscuits, but it feels way more fun serving it as a one-dish meal.

Some swaps you could try are ground beef instead of chicken (it works just as well), potato instead of corn, and fresh thyme instead of dried.

Mouthwatering and nutritious!

2. Carrot Ginger Soup

4. Sourdough Pizza

This sourdough pizza dough is a great, healthy option for your crust, and it is actually simpler than you might think!

Topped with your favorite proteins, veggies and cheeses, this meal is a definite crowd pleaser.

5. Beef Lentil Spaghetti

7. Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

Another way to use that delicious ham is in scalloped potatoes. Scalloped potatoes don’t need to just be a side dish. They can be the MAIN DISH, and boy is it a delicious one!

This is also a great way to use fresh garden potatoes if that’s something you have on hand! Simple ingredients. Delectable result.

Quiche is a fun dinner choice, and it can be really easy too! While you can opt to make a crust, you can also buy a prepackaged one at the store for next to nothing! I remember my Mom making beef stew in the crockpot (see both methods above). She would make it on days she worked. Putting it in the slow cooker early and letting it simmer all afternoon, she ensured we could have a hearty, easy supper that night.

Paired with some bread or biscuits, beef stew is simple and always a winner!

18. Chicken Broccoli Casserole

This is another classic from my childhood. Topped with toasted breadcrumbs, this creamy broccoli and chicken casserole is perfect for a bed of rice on a cold Autumn day. Fragrant curry and decadent cheese combine to make a scrumptious comfort food.
