Every year, people buy gym memberships, health supplements, and exercise equipment. They want to be healthy, get fit, and age well. They want to have stronger muscles, leaner bodies, and healthier bones. They spend money in these pursuits, and it can be tempting to think that in order to actually be fit, one has to pay a lot.

However, that is just not true.

For the average, healthy individual, fitness doesn’t have to cost much…if anything. Being healthy and staying on a budget can go hand in hand, and they don’t have to wait for more money or margin to be active.

Ready for some hot takes?

You don’t need a gym membership.

You don’t have to buy protein powder, supplements, or a treadmill.

Being healthy doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

In fact, I believe that the simpler we make a healthy lifestyle, the more likely we’ll be able to implement it.

So today, I want to share with you 12 Tips For Being Healthy on a Budget.

These aren’t complicated or mind-blowing ideas, and that’s really the point. But sometimes we just need some reminders.

So let’s dive in.

12 Tips for Being Healthy on a Budget

1. Eat basic food.

Food doesn’t have to be complicated, and in fact, the simpler the meal, the healthier it is. If you can’t afford expensive supplements and trendy superfoods, it’s okay. Buy some meat, eggs, dairy, veggies, fruits, and grains. Keep meals basic. Add salt, healthy fats, and seasonings, and that’s truly all you need!

Don’t go out to eat. Don’t buy prepackaged food if you can’t afford it. You’re budget will thankyou for it, and your body will too.

2. Go on walks and runs.

Get outside. Move your body. Walk, run, and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. You will start to love it, and you’ll want to do it again and again.

3. Utilize workout videos.

There are so many free workout videos on YouTube. Take advantage of them. You can search for literally any type of exercise or workout routine you want, and chances are, you’ll probably find something.

Do you need to weight train? Are you interested in kickboxing? Is Pilates more your jam? Type it into YouTube. You’ll be amazed at the options you find!

4. Buy some free weights.

You can buy these at Walmart or on Amazon. Nothing fancy, but they are incredibly helpful. Lifting weights can help strengthen our muscles and bones, and you don’t need a hundred weights to do it. Maybe you just need one set.

5. Explore a trail.

There are so many places to explore with your kids. Find a hiking trail or a walking path, and go with your kids. You can get fresh air and stay active at the same time!

6. Use good running shoes.

Have a good pair of sneakers that feel good on your feet. This is a worthy investment, and you’ll be able to get a lot of use out of them! This will help keep your feet healthy and strong, so that you can continue to be active like you want to be.

7. Drink water.

Stay hydrated. Fill up your water bottle and drink throughout the day. Your body will thank you for it!

8. Play outside.

It is good to have fun with our kids. Let yourself laugh and play with your kids in God’s beautiful creation.

9. Start small.

Getting healthier doesn’t have to be really hard. It can look like one small change, one tiny habit. Small actions can make a big difference!

10. Make exercise a habit.

You could take a little walk every day. You might spend ten minutes working out. Perhaps you go on a bike ride every Saturday. Make exercise a habit, and you’ll be much more likely to stick with it. It doesn’t have to be fancy or intense. Remember consistency is more important that intensity.

11. Prioritize sleep.

Sleep is an important aspect of our health. Let’s prioritize it.

12. Don’t overcomplicate it.

Let healthy living be simple, because it can be.
