The day they placed you in our arms.

Our world completely changed.

There you were, sweet head to toes.

And we’d never be the same.

We took you home, hearts full of joy

We had so much to learn.

We hoped and prayed we’d do it right.

And loved so much it hurt.

We’d never felt so tired and worn.

But never been so proud.

We watched you smile then heard you laugh.

It was the sweetest sound.

Mistakes were made. We lost our cool.

At times we felt adrift.

But God remained our Help and Strength.

Our burdens He did lift.

You learned to sit then walk then run.

You love your bike and swing.

When I hear you say you love me.

My heart begins to sing.

We’ll never tire of this wild fact.

That God gave you to us.

We’re just two normal, simple people.

To whom God’s given much.
