Spring has become my new favorite season. The buds and blooms, the sweet smell in the air, the anticipation of longer days and warmer nights. The flowers.

As we come out of winter, we may feel weary. We might crave lightness, freshness, and color. Though the world is brown and barren around us, we know that green grass, pink blooms, and warm, sunny days are approaching.

I love spring.

And I want my home to reflect that.

When the weather turns warm, I want my home to feel airy. When the flowers appear, I long to bring them inside!

I want my home to reflect the changing season.

You too?

We don’t need a whole day to devote to spring cleaning. We can simply be smart and creative with the minutes we do have. We can create beautiful homes without obsession. We can take charge of our space while letting go of perfection. We can use the time we have in the season we’re in to create beauty and calm for us and our families.

Today I want to share with you 8 Tips For A Spring Reset. These are actionable steps you can refresh your home, even as a busy mom of little kids. They will help your home reflect the approaching season.

So let’s begin.

How To Do A Spring Reset

1. Clear out some space.

Go through a few spaces in your home and declutter. Ask yourself if you really need or want x, y, or z. Make a donation bag. Spring is a great time to lighten your mental load by purging a few items in your home.

2. Store away some winter gear.

Like decluttering, this will create some breathing room and make your home feel lighter. It will also make space for any summer items you may want to pull out or purchase.

3. Use small pockets of time to do extra cleaning.

When you have a few minutes to spare, wipe out a drawer or cupboard. Run a cloth over your window pane. Vacuum a neglected spot in your home.

These small windows of time add up, and you’ll be surprised at how rewarding even a small clean can be. Cleaning something out of the normal routine might feel unnecessary, but it’s something that can’t be quickly undone, and every time you open that drawer or cupboard, you’ll get to enjoy a fresh, renewed space.

4. Assess your bedding/sheets.

If necessary, consider lightening your bedding situation. If you sleep with flannel sheets, change them out for cotton. If you use an extra blanket, consider stowing it away for the warmer months.

5. Open some windows.

Let in some air! The fresh air will do wonders for your home and health! Let your space breathe, and let the outside in!

6. Make sure you have your spring essentials.

Take inventory of your summer gear. What will you and your family need? Do you have all the need sun hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, sandals, shorts, and t-shirts you need? If not, start filling in the gaps. Begin purchasing your needed items.

7. Display fresh flowers.

I just love a bouquet of fresh flowers. Don’t you? I encourage you to put some blooms in water and display them in your home. It will instantly make your home feel more like spring!

8. Cook and bake with fresh produce.

Add some fruit and vegetables to your meals. Start dreaming about salads and summer fruit! I know that I begin to crave more fresh food this time of year, and what a great way to embrace the season we’re in!
