Your skin is warm and rosy.
Your eyes are glazed with tears.
My darling, dear, sweet child.
I want to draw you near.
Fevers don’t last forever.
Quite soon you will be well.
You’ll run and laugh like always.
Stories you’ll once again tell.
But here now in this moment
Please linger in my arms.
For I’m not in a hurry
And love near hurts my heart.

My mind does burn with worry.
My eyes are glazed with tears.
This weary, worn-out child.
Does wonder if you’re near.
Am I to struggle forever?
Could I indeed be well?
So often I’ve run from mercy.
From where doth come my help.
But right now in this moment.
I’ll rest here in your arms.
For you’re not in a hurry.
And love does fill your heart.
I know that when I’m weakest.
Is when I find your strength.
For compassionate is my Father.
And my Shepherd won’t turn away.
